Over the past couple of months, local businesses have been offering their support with food, transport, PPE equipment and materials to support the COVID-19 relief effort in Slough.

These are just some of the offers that the One Slough Community Response team have received from the business community. They have also provided support in the production of PPE locally.

Following a request for acetate for Westgate School to produce face shield production, helping many including local care homes, local businesses John Crane, Run Print Run and Karl Storz all offered some, facilitated by Slough Business Community Partnership (SBCP), part of the One Slough. Karl Storz also donated blue roll and 2000 much needed plastic gloves. Windsor & Eton Brewery & Brain Brew Whiskey have expanded their production line to produce hand sanitizer, approved by the WHO. For every bottle bought they have donated another one free to the NHS and voluntary organisations.

Sam Hussain, Slough CVS volunteer who has been co-ordinating business support for One Slough said, “The donations have been really gratefully received. Most recently we delivered Garibaldi biscuits donated by Pladis, formally United Biscuits to the Eden Chemo ward at Wexham Park Hospital. People began reminiscing about this iconic biscuits and the memories they stirred up. It turned out to be a real talking point and lightened the mood of both patients and staff.”

“Connecting business to community is even more important now as we all connect and support each other. We are asking businesses to get in touch if they could help with the COVID-19 relief effort. As many of us start to go back to our day jobs, there are still lots of vulnerable people affected by the pandemic and will be for some time to come.” Contact if you would like to offer any business support.

The team are working hard to distribute all the donations. If you have received extra donations that you cannot use, contact Julie at who will know of other groups who can use them for their clients.
