One Slough Our community response

Our goal is to build community resilience in Slough to help residents in times of crisis including providing support in response to the coronavirus crisis. This is a challenging time for everyone. We want to help local people to support one another and provide essential services to people who need it.

Slough Borough Council and Slough CVS are working with key local community groups and organisations so that we have a coordinated effort across our borough to organise volunteers and those who need help. It is important that all our efforts to help those in need are organised through a collaborative approach that we can act in line with a spread prevention approach.

This is your first stop to find out how you can get involved or access help.

Keeping safe

Some things to remember to keep safe:

  • Coronavirus (Covid-19) is contagious. Avoid physical contact and wash hands regularly
  • Leave any items being delivered on the doorstep rather than going into someone’s home or inviting them in
  • Share information on any allergies
  • We would strongly suggest that you do not give anyone your bank details or cards.
  • You should continue at all times to follow the advice being given by Public Health England

We know this is an extremely anxious time for everyone. We are heartened that our community in Slough is already pulling together and we will continue to work to build more resilience and be prepared.

Thank you for your support and dedication to ensuring Slough remains a caring and vibrant community.

What is a Community Champion?

COVID-19, and the measures taken in response, continue to impact all of us in Slough. Factual information shared widely can help everyone to stay safe and keep their families safe and we want to help in getting the right information out into Slough.

The #OneSlough Community Champions network empowers Slough residents to remain up to date with the latest advice about COVID-19. The #OneSlough Team will keep you informed of the latest advice and guidance direct from Public Health Slough so that you can help your family, friends and other community members to make sense of the latest facts about the virus.

By having and sharing clear information, you, your friends, family and community can make informed choices.

Become a Community Champion

Community Champions are residents across Slough. Champions can be anyone in the community. You might be the person that everyone knows and trusts. You might be someone who wants to help in whatever way you can - even if this is your first time.

When you sign up to be a Champion...

  • We give Champions the latest information about COVID-19
  • Champions share this information with anyone in their community, however they want
  • Champions let us know what is and isn’t working
  • Together we do all we can to make sure that everyone in Slough has the information they need to stay safe and healthy.

Once you sign up you will receive regular information and advice by email regarding staying safe which we hope you will share with your friend, family, colleagues and networks. If you don't receive a message please check your spam as it may go there by mistake. You can also contact us directly at champions@sloughgetinvolved.org.uk

Thank you for your part in making this happen.

Community Champion information sessions

Information sessions for Community Champions will be held regularly by Zoom. If you’re not able to join Zoom, please contact us and someone from the team will be happy to talk through the programme. More information will be shared after you’ve registered.

We will also be regularly sharing factual information which comes directly from Public Health Slough and gives the best possible advice around staying safe, keeping others safe and helping to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We will also be providing further opportunities to champions such as training courses from Public Health Slough and others, for example 'MECC' training. These courses will give you additional skills and can be a valuable addition to your CV.
