Our network of volunteer Community Champions is growing with over 1,500 in Slough.   The aim is to address and reduce health inequality, promote healthy living and wellbeing, by building on the skills, experience and knowledge within the community.

Community Champions help to promote healthy lifestyles and encourages positive changes.  This might involve supporting someone to quit smoking, by letting them know of local services available, or helping people to be more physically active by promoting sports and exercise.

Community Champions play an important role in encouraging people to be active in their communities to avoid being socially isolated.  They do this by reaching out to those who may be less likely to get involved and making sure they know they are welcome.

You can shape your role as a Community Champion and choose how much time you invest.  We understand that people provide help in different ways.

By having and sharing clear information, you, your friends, family and community can make informed choices.

The #OneSlough Team will keep you informed of the latest advice and guidance.

You will receive our weekly news bulletin and be invited to our monthly ZOOM meetings, where you will have the opportunity to speak to experts.

All volunteers can access a free training course to support them in their role. The Volunteer Passport course offers a series of four free short training modules, exploring key areas including communication skills and safeguarding. The full Slough CVS training programme is available to volunteers too. [Insert link to Volunteer Passport page on Slough CVS website?]

Issues that Community Champions raise at meetings and through the Community Champions Planner, are raised at key town meetings with the health commissioners, to help improve services for residents.

Your comments and feedback are important to us.  Please help us by taking our surveys or dropping us a message to let us know your thoughts on how we can help you.
